The Hill Brothers
The Hill Brothers are a lively ensemble group that uses participatory, ‘toe-tapping’ musical performance to teach young students literacy skills and character development. Two or more members are present at Young Audiences of Western New York programming. The Hills Brothers have been performing for Young Audiences of Western New York since 1977.
Group members are Jerry Raven, Judd Sunshine, Dave Ruch and Susan Rozler. Raven plays a 12-string guitar, and he has performed in popular venues – including television and concert appearances – and in many regional schools. Sunshine is a self-taught musician with an energetic performance style, specializing in bluegrass and old time music. Ruch has played many instruments with local and nationally known artists for over 20 years, and he is now a full-time arts-in-education professional. Susan Rozler, the newest “Hill Brother”, a.k.a. “Sister Susie Hill”, has been in the entertainment business for over 20 years. A singer-songwriter, Susan plays many instruments and teaches music. Together, these musicians get young students moving and thinking about who they are and who they want to be.
