BGirl Resolve & DJ Lisa Lux
After meeting in 2015 through Buffalo’s Hip Hop scene, BGirl Resolve & DJ Lisa Lux developed a friendship
alongside their crafts in two of the main elements of Hip Hop Culture, breaking and DJing. Having seen
firsthand the treatment of female-identifying practitioners in their respective elements, they decided to develop programming dedicated to women in Hip Hop. BGirl Resolve & DJ Lisa Lux are now proud to offer
workshops to local students, sharing history, teaching foundations, and engaging youth in discussions
around women’s issues.
BGirl Resolve aka Stacy VanBlarcom, started breaking in 2008 and has more than 25 years of training in
various dance styles. She was the first BGirl to win Battle @ Buffalo, and has taught through Verve Dance
Studio, The Toronto BGirl Movement, Urban Arts TO, and in schools throughout the WNY area. Resolve has
also performed and battled throughout North America, and has judged and organized events locally.
Growing up in NYC, DJ Lisa Lux aka Lisa LaTempa, was immersed in Hip Hop at a young age. Her first
passion was writing, and she began exploring the craft of DJing at the age of 12, becoming a professional
DJ at the age of just 17. By 18, she was interning at 107.5 WBLS and playing at industry events for recording artists, record labels, and athletes all over New York, and in other US cities. Now a teacher in Buffalo, Lisa continues to DJ recreationally and share her experiences with other young people.
