Alisse Sikes

Alisse Sikes is an actor and teaching artist. She has studied and performed theatre since the age of 12. Her high-school theatre department in Lubbock, Texas regularly took honors in the University Interscholastic League, the largest theatre festival in the world that annually involved over 1,000 competing productions. The League' s theatre program is considered by historians to be the foundation of educational and community theatre in Texas.

She obtained a BFA in Theatre from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. At the time, it was one of the League of Professional Theater Training Schools. She then attended and self-studied over 50 professional theatre productions in London in 1980.

When she returned to Lubbock from England, she and five others formed Actors & Company, a non-profit theatre that performed original scripts as well as established plays. Actors & Co. also had a touring childrens' theatre component.

Sikes moved to Buffalo in 1985 to work in the Creative Services Department at WIVB-TV. She has participated in numerous local theatre productions, and was part of Hallwalls' resident Black and Blue theatre for a decade. She continues to perform in touring shows with the WonderMakers and Dramatic Solutions, as well as offering creative dramatics as a teaching artist through Young Audiences of WNY.
