Meg Robinson-Albers

Meg Robinson-Albers is a self-professed "kite-maven" and a world traveler. She would be hard pressed to pick between those two passions. She is convinced that the world would be a better place if everyone did more of both.

Robnison-Albers grew up in Buffalo. She received a BA in Mass Communications from Buffalo State College. She then began traveling the world, immersing herself in the various aspects of kite culture and kite flying.

Over twenty years ago, Robinson-Albers gave up her kite store on Elmwood Ave. and began substitute teaching. This career move presented her with a chance to develop and implement an assortment of exciting kite programs. In addition to school settings, she has brought kite programs to senior citizens, mentally and physically disabled people, hospital patients; every segment of the community.

Robinson-Albers' ability to develop an interesting, and exciting kite lesson plan for all grade levels, in every subject matter has made her (and her kites) a leader in hands-on, interactive educational programs of today.

Kite Making add to wish list

For four thousand years, the kite has served as a form of transportation, a scientific tool, a weapon of war and a toy. Because of this, kite-making in the classroom can serve as a window into history, a form of self-expression, or a range of other curriculum-supporting projects. While tailoring her theme to curriculum needs, Albers discusses various techniques and materials, emphasizing teamwork as students make kites. This workshop can be adjusted for a range of ages.

Kites are an enlightening way to assist teachers in their quest to engage, excite and educate their pupils. This workshop can be tailored to suit adult audiences and is available as a professional development workshop.
