Candace Wolf
Candace Wolf is a Master Storyteller who has worked in collaboration with the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, and is an innovative teacher and oral historian. Wolf has traveled the globe collecting folklore, legends, wisdom, humor, and oral histories. She has lived and worked among migrant Gypsies in Europe, Mayan Indians in the rain forests of Central America, itinerant circus performers in Mexico, goat herders in Italy, fishermen on the Canary Islands, rice farmers in Indonesia, artisans in the Middle East, coal miners in Appalachia, and many other places.
As a performing artist and educator, Wolf has presented her programs at thousands of schools and other venues throughout the country. She is passionately dedicated to passing on this rich heritage of oral literature and providing a valuable service to all members of our community.
In her performances, both young and old audiences experience the thrill of participatory storytelling. Wolf illuminates the cultures of the world -- their humor, beauty, cherished values, and history.

La Luna en la Tortilla (The Moon in a Tortilla) add to wish list
Chicano poet Victor Valle says, "You taste the moon when you eat a tortilla, and you swallow sun and fire when you eat a bowl of hot chili." Candace draws upon her experience living in countries "south of the border" to help audiences discover enchanting Latin American storytelling traditions that blend Indigenous, African, and European influences. Spanish language, music and geography are woven into a captivating performance that offers a vision of the Amazon Rain Forest, the era of the Spanish conquistadors, Mexican celebrations and the Island cultures of the Caribbean Sea.
Heroes and Scoundrels add to wish list
Introduce middle and high school students to larger-than-life, admirable heroes and despicable villains, as Candace spins riveting and suspenseful legends, adventure quests, tales of the supernatural, and true-life biographies guaranteed to keep adolescents on the edge of their seats! This program is designed for young people coming of age in a world where difficult choices must be faced with courage.
