Annette Daniels-Taylor will set the scene for the Underground Railroad Residency as Nancy Freeman, a wife, mother and former slave. Nancy is traveling with her husband on their working barge, down the Erie Canal to be part of the Women' s Convention in Seneca Falls, NY. Set in 1848 and based on the historical journey of an escaped slave woman who lived in Western New York. Nancy shares stories and songs about life as a slave and her life as a free woman on New York' s Erie Canal.

Ntare Ali Gault with Njozi Chorus -- $500 single or $795 back to back
Ntare Ali Gault with the Njozi Chorus, a combination of poetry and spirituals that tell the story of his ancestors who were descendents from Africa who endured the United States slave trade. This exciting performance brings history into focus through an original form of American music arranged by the African-American composer Dr. Charles Albert Tindley and passed on to his grand daughter Loretta Anderson. Ntare and his family grew up with Mrs. Anderson and continue to be influenced by this musical legacy as he performs Tindley’s songs with his family.
Le Ballet Touba -- $270 back to back
Robin Monique of Le Ballet Touba presents this rousing performance of African Music and Dance with drummer Alassane Saar. Robin’s interactive workshop will demonstrate how music and dance became a vital tool for cultural preservation, pride, and resilience during the era of slavery. Participants will be introduced to a traditional West African dance called the Korteba, a coming of age dance, which is about a journey. Students have the opportunity to get on their feet and dance along.
