Summer Events
Young Audiences WNY teaching artists are busy offering programs year round, and can often be found performing at public events that are not affiliated with Young Audiences WNY. There are many opportunities to see these teaching artists in performances throughout the summer, many of which we have listed below.
Public Events featuring Young Audiences WNY Teaching Artists:
- July 28, 7:30-9:30: Buffalo Infringement Festival, Saucebox Poetry Reading -- Saucebox is a small press and occasional performance series featuring women artists. For Infringement 2010, Saucebox will feature poets Robin Brox, Janna Willoughby, Soma Feldmar, Morani Kornberg-Weiss, Florine Melnyk, and more. At Rust Belt Books, 202 Allen Street, Buffalo. All events are free and all-ages.
- August 3, Noon: M&T Plaza Event Series, One M&T Plaza in downtown Buffalo

- The Edge -- theatreFigüren's newest production for the 2010 Buffalo Infringement Festival. A puppetry love letter to the city of Here and it’s inhabitants. With their toes tenaciously perched on the ledge of rusty grandeur, they manage to prevail with quiet declarations of “Yes!”
Admission is $2. This production is appropriate for ages 8 - 108.

- August 4, Noon- 3 pm: Manya Fabiniak presents her interactive Visioning Power of Mandalas workshop during Explore & More Children's Museum's Amazing Mandalas! event. Admission is $5 for adults and children over 1, and is free for children 1 and younger.

- August 9: Veterans Appreciation Day, USS Little Rock
- Exhibits through August 28: Gerald Mead has a solo exhibition of his work on view at Exhibit A Contemporary Art, a gallery in Corning, NY through August 28 and he is part of a four-person exhibition titled "Curiouser and Curiouser" at the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton, NY that is on view through August 25.
- July 31, Noon: The Ladies First Jazz Big Band is playing at the 5th Annual Queen City Jazz Festival Broadway and Michigan to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Colored Musicians Club.(Free)
- August 7, 5-7 pm: The Ladies First Jazz quintet is playing at Church of the Advent, ($10 for BBQ dinner)
- August 29, 10 am:The Ladies First Jazz Trio is playing at the Elmwood Arts Festival at the Wilson Farm Tent (Free)
- August 29, 7 pm: The Ladies First Jazz Big Band is playing at Niawanda Park in the Band Shell for the summer concert series. (Free)
- August 6: Hungerford Urban Artisans' First Friday (Open house at 1115 E. Main Street, 14609)
