Alisse Sikes An actress in children's theater, Alisse Sikes has thirty-three years of experience in theater including directing and designing workshops. Each workshop is tailored to the social, intellectual, and physical level of its participants. These creative activities engender a sense of possibility as they reveal and expand each child's expressive capabilities.

Creative Play

In an atmosphere of encouragement for their every effort, children participate in theater games to promote group cooperation, individual and team creativity, and self-respect. They experience how theater can enhance their concentration, friendships, and sense of belonging. Students will practice expressing themselves responsibly in an atmosphere of mutual support and fun.

Alisse is also available for multiple session residencies.

Jeanne Vuich

Jeanne Vuich Jeanne Vuich is an accomplished professional actress who has studied extensively in New York City and has performed both locally and nationally. Her performing experience is matched with over fourteen years of substitute teaching for the Buffalo Board of Education.

Creative Dramatics Workshop

This delightful introduction to the theater world encourages students to explore their creativity while developing their self confidence, imagination and ability to concentrate. In this fun workshop the students will play theater games, create stories and pursue the objectives of fictional characters. Through learning to be a polite audience and respecting each other's ideas, social skills are also developed.

The Wondermakers

The WondermakersThe Wondermakers perform story theater and have given over 3000 performances to over a third of a million children. Now in its 22nd season, the Wondermakers have performed in Rochester, Cleveland, Tampa, Sarasota, Fort Myers, and Orlando - as well as in Western New York. Stories from the Pumpkin Patch

New York State stories with a harvest time theme! The Wondermakers take you across New York State-from NYC to the Finger Lakes to an elm bark longhouse in Western New York. Interactive story theater selections include an Iroquois legend, an African American Hallowe'en story, a Jewish folktale about being thankful and a tall tale starring Johnny Appleseed.

Story Soup

Through the use of theater games, creative dramatics, comedy, improvisation techniques and audience participation, students will learn the "ingredients" that go into a good story and will be inspired to create their own stories, poems and plays. This highly interactive program features actors professionally trained in comedy improv at Comedysportz, Second City Toronto and Chicago, and City Limits in N.Y.C.

For older grades (6-12), scenes and stories are created on-the-spot, based on suggestions from the audience.

Let's Make a Mystery!

The actors/improvisers in LET'S MAKE A MYSTERY! have studied at Second City Toronto and Chicago and City Limits N.Y.C. and have performed professionally with Comedysportz and the Eclectic Company. The program was created by Gail Golden, a NYS certified teacher who has a BFA in Theater from Ithaca College and an MA in Humanities from SUNY at Buffalo.
Through comedy improv and theater games (like the ones on Whose Line is It Anyway?) mystery stories are created on the spot through audience suggestions. Detectives, witnesses, suspects and plot twists are created right before your eyes with the help of the audience! This highly interactive program is designed to encourage students to read mystery stories and write mysteries of their own.

Play in a Day

Gail Golden, actress, director and writer, will work with up to 12 motivated students, interested in theater, to create, rehearse and perform a play based on multi-cultural folk tales. Participants will become a traveling troupe of players which will perform for the rest of the school (from classroom to classroom).
