PUSH Physical Theatre
PUSH Physical Theatre DISCOVERS the potential of young imaginations, GUIDES students in creative expressive movement, EXPERIENCES the joy of living in the wonderful world around us, BUILDS confidence and healthy esteem by maturing self-identities in a safe and nuturing environment. PUSH Physical Theatre uses a broad range of movement styles to communicate, demonstrating both the diversity and similarity of different theatre forms. Using the term 'physical theatre' they choose to move outside their codified training to discover new avenues of physical communication. PUSH was founded by veteran movement artists and choreographers Darren and Heather Stevenson.
Performance
Selected works from PUSH's repertoire develop students' understanding of the way in which the human body speaks. The content of the choreography typically deals with universal issues and the use of movement, and helps students to interpret the work on a level that is relevant to them. Individual pieces are given context appropriate to each grade level and can emphasize aspects of the creative process, movement theater history, or the content of the work. Workshops in conjunction with performances are available. Call the office for details.
