Empire Shakespeare Co. - lead by Roger Keicher
Scenes from Shakespeare
This truly inspired and educational program is presented by an ensemble of professional actors who have been performing the works of Shakespeare for years. The performance features selected scenes from the Bard's best known plays and demonstrates how the use of certain words, phrases, and meter (iambic pentameter) leads to a clearer understanding of how and why Shakespeare wrote the way he did. The 40 minute performance also offers students a question and answer period with the actors.
Workshops are also available in conjunction with the performance to give small groups of students greater insight into various aspects of Shakespeare's plays, individually or as a whole, and how they are performed.
A Shakespeare Residency is also offered-see p. 15.
