Jazz It Up!

Reynold ScottThe history of jazz comes alive through the sounds of this exciting American art form, from spirituals to fusion and all that came in between. This program uses the elements in jazz improvisation to teach students about the structure and dynamics of jazz. The group will play music familiar to students and demonstrate the uses of rhythm and improvisation.

What's That Thing You're Playing?

String Dancers

String DancersString Dancers, a Buffalo based string quartet, was created to promote recognition and understanding of the world's cultures through the sounds of ethnically based dance music.

The World Loves to Dance

From folk to classical, from jig to tango, String Dancers extend students' knowledge and appreciation of the world's cultures through the sounds and rhythms of dance from around the globe. The programs also includes a short demonstration of the basic sounds and construction of the string instruments as well as common string techniques used in playing the dance movements of the program. Audience participation through dance and playing of rhythm instruments is incorporated.
