The guidelines listed below address the qualities that Young Audiences
of Western New York, Inc. seeks to achieve in all its programs. Performance
reviews are subjective evaluations. Please remember we are looking
for artists who are uniquely able to respond to all audiences while
incorporating educational components.
Young Audiences' programs will:
1. Demonstrate unique quality in artistry and content:

Is the artist's talent clearly and immediately evident?

Is the program unique?

Is the content of the program original?

Could this program inspire creativity in children?
2. Authentically engage audiences through a well paced,
educationally sound, carefully focused
entertaining presentation:

Are the children engaged by the program?

Does the participatory activity respect the intelligence
of the audience?

Is this engagement useful in the audience's understanding
of the art form?

Is the artist able to maintain positive audience behavior?

Is the artist sensitive to the audience and its reaction
to this engagement?

Is the progression of the program logical?

Does the artist maintain a good pace?

Would a child want to view and participate in this program?
3. Celebrate and acknowledge diversity:

Does the artist present an authentic cultural connection
to the art form?

Is the artist's understanding of the cultural implications
of the art form clear?

Are these implications clearly presented to the audience?

Is the artist sensitive to the diversity of the audience?
4. Make a natural, relevant and unique connection to curriculum:
