AUDITION
PROCEDURES
All Young Audiences programs
must be auditioned before acceptance onto the roster.
Prior to an audition
the following information must be received by the Young Audiences
of Westren New York, Inc. office:
-
Complete name of
the ensemble, list of all artist(s), contact name, address,
phone, e-mail and/or fax number(s)
-
Professional biographical
information and/or resume(s) for each ensemble member
-
A brief program
description, addressing artistic merit, educational content
and audience involvement
The artist/ensemble information
will be reviewed by the Executive Director (E.D.) and/or the Arts & Education Director (A.E.D.). If the program fits within YAWNY's
artistic and educational goals, an interview with the E.D. and/or
A.E.D. will be scheduled.
The program will be auditioned
in its completed form in front of an audience. The E.D., A.E.D.
and at least two members of the Board Program Committee will evaluate
the program's artistic merit, educational content and audience rapport.
After the audition, the
E.D., A.E.D. and attending members of the Program Committee will
make recommendations at the monthly Program Committee meeting.
The artist or ensemble
will be contacted by the office as to the status of her/his audition.
Recommendations, reviews and suggestions may be made at this time.
Subsequent auditions may occur.
All artists are accepted
with a one year probationary period and are subject to periodic
re-evaluation based not only on artistic and educational merit but
also on general professionalism.
Accepted artists and
ensembles are not eligible for booking until the YA-WNY office receives
all completed curriculum materials.
Authority for roster
inclusion rests upon a consensus of the E.D., A.E.D. and the Program
Committee.
