Dear Prospective Artists:
Thank you for your interest in Young Audiences
of Western New York, Inc. We are always interested
in auditioning new artists and ensembles for our
roster.
Young Audiences of Western New York, Inc. is a not-for-profit arts-in-education
organization dedicated to making the visual, performing and literary
arts a part of young people's lives in order to enhance their development
as creative and productive human beings. Operating in Western
New York for more than 45 years, Young Audiences annually serves over 100,000 students
and their families with performances, workshops and residencies
in educational, cultural and community centers. As a not-for-profit
organization, Young Audiences not only places these programs into
venues, but also secures the funding for many of the programs that
we place.
All of the artists who appear in our catalog and
work with Young Audiences of Western New York,
Inc. are independent contractors. As a result,
our artists are also free to book themselves into
other venues. We do ask, however, that artists appearing
on our roster do not book themselves into schools
or community venues where we have an ongoing relationship.
In order to maintain excellence, Young Audiences
of Western New York, Inc. auditions and evaluates
each program to determine if it will be included
on our roster. Attached are the Audition Procedures,
Audition Guidelines and Audition Evaluation
Forms. A strong educational component is essential
for all of our programs.
Once the information requested in the Audition
Procedures is received and reviewed, an audition
in a school setting can be scheduled. The audition
is attended by members of our Board Program Committee
and appropriate staff members.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have
any questions, please contact me at the office during
business hours.
Sincerely,
Holly Johnson
Arts & Education Director
